You're Invited! STS Office Christmas Party

Hey Everyone,

You’re invited to help ring in the Christmas season with Sports That Serve! As we approach a new year full of camps, STS could use your help! There are many different administrative costs that go into making each of our camps a reality. We couldn't think of a better way to start the season of sacrificial giving than by asking our friends and family to help us cut costs in a fun and unique way. On December 6th, STS will be hosting an Office Christmas Party. By attending this event, we ask that you help us in fulfilling our mission by donating one office supply from our Wish List below. Whether it’s a printer or a pack of post-it notes, each donation will be a blessing to this ministry.

Come join us in celebrating what the Lord is doing through Sports That Serve!

Location: Brier Creek Clubhouse//Vogel Street, Raleigh, NC 27617

Time: 7pm-9pm

STS visits Fuquay-Varina

On Sunday, November 8th, STS had the privilege of visiting Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church. Our Director of Baseball Operations, Reid Fronk, went on Sunday morning and spoke with the Elementary Sunday School classes about his experience as a follower of Christ on the UNC baseball team, and even now as he plays pro baseball. He had a great time hanging out with them and getting to know Cam McLean, the Children's Pastor.

Cam also invited the STS staff to come to their Fall Festival that night and set up a table for people to learn more about Sports That Serve. We were able to hand out flyers, talk with people interested in sports ministry, and Reid signed autographs & took pictures with adoring fans (see picture above :) ). The Fall Festival was huge--we've never seen so many inflatables in one place and it seemed like the whole town came out for the night! Overall, it was a wonderful opportunity to meet some new people who love the Lord and share with them about our ministry. Many thanks to Cam and the rest of the crew at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church!

If you have any questions about our baseball camp coming up this February in Charlotte, please contact our Director of Baseball Operations, Reid Fronk, at reidfronk@sportsthatserve.org. Thanks!

Meet the Interns--Andrew McAllister

My name is Andrew McAllister and I was born in Tallahassee, Florida, but grew up in Franklin, NC. I will graduate in May from UNC with a double major in Global Health & Environment and Latin American Studies. One day, I'd like to work in refugee camps and help with disaster relief.

I think the goal of STS is awesome - using sports to teach kids about serving and leadership. One thing about Sports That Serve that stands out to me is the vision of how sports are a great platform with which to reach kids. Many people desire to invest in the lives of kids, but have trouble committing to long term volunteer programs because of scheduling challenges. STS offers an opportunity for those people to get involved by helping to put on one day camps where they can teach kids good values and make a real difference. Sports enthusiasts have told me before that they would like to help kids overseas, but simply don't have the opportunity. STS is the answer to that challenge: by helping teach a sport they love and investing in kids here in NC, they can support kids in Ethiopia that would otherwise be unreached.

**Welcome to the team, Andrew!! Fun fact: Andrew drove across the country on his motorcycle to come to our STS Interest Meeting this fall. You can ask him more about it.**

Meet the Interns--Ted Morgan

Hi, my name is Ted Morgan and I am originally from Midland, NC, right outside of Charlotte. I am a Senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating in December 2009 with a major in History, emphasis on American History. I eventually plan on opening a non-profit for inner-city kids, bringing them in using sports, but focusing on education and the Gospel.

I believe in what STS is doing because it has both an effect on our state and a global impact. STS reflects my passions: sports, a heart for Africa, and a heart for young people hearing the Gospel. Part of the reason that I wanted to join STS was to see the inner workings of a start-up non-profit. It also gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of the business side of a non-profit.

** We're excited to have Ted on our team!! If you want more info about Ted, just ask him to tell you the story of how he got his name.**
